Welcome to the JWP Remote Photography Newsletter Blast! I can NOT believe we are now in 2025! Last year seemed to fly by! I want to take a minute and share a few of the things that made an impact on me in 2024. Some were good, some were hard. If you went thru anything similar and want to share, feel free to hit reply and let me know! It's nice to know someone else out there is going thru
similar situations and I'm not alone in my struggles. - I got on top of my health, then got cocky and comfortable and stopped doing all the things I knew I was supposed to do and had a humbling reminder that it is a forever thing not just when I feel like it.
- I struggled with trying to find a way to
"ask for" the sale because I didn't want to give off the icky feeling I get myself when others spam/try to sell to me without the invitation to do so. I finally figured out a way that was comfortable for me, to make connections and collaborate thus allowing the business to happen naturally. I also worked on being more comfortable with just putting it out there when appropriate!
- Financially my business was very close to becoming a expensive hobby and I had to really buckle
down on costs/expenses to get thru it. This was so stressful but I got it done.
- I had the experience of having someone close to me tell me maybe I should consider doing something different because I just didn't seem busy enough/bringing in enough money to support continuing. This was crushing, but also ignited my stubborn "I'll show you" side. I'm still working on this. lol
- I really leaned into the things that bring me joy... both in my business and in my
personal life. This focus counter balanced a lot of the anxiety I had about all of the hard stuff. I did this by making sure I prioritized self care and spent lots of time with my kids and grandkids!
- I had the pleasure of getting to meet one of my online besties in person! She came out and spent the weekend with me and it was so awesome to get to hang out in person!
- I realized how many others I had helped build communities for, how I had poured into cups
and spent so much time and energy in doing so, and decided to apply that much love, grace, time and energy into filling my own cup first before pouring anymore.. That was a tough time but very rewarding once I figured it out!
Those are just a few things off the top of my head. lol.. It was quite a ride! Thinking about it now, no wonder 2024 went by so fast. It was filled with so much stuff going on the whole time! As we head into 2025, I have set some goals for myself! Here are those in case you want to know! - My word for the year is ABUNDANCE. This applies to my business/finances as well as to my family and friends and the love and joy shared there.
- My motto: Lean into things that bring me joy! This was something that really changed things for me in 2024 and I want to continue on with it.
- I have set myself a reading challenge
on Good Reads of getting thru 30 books this year. If you want to connect there let me know and I will send you my link!
- For my business my goal is to book at least 5 headshot sessions per month and 1-2 branding sessions. If you are interested in helping me hit that goal let me know and I'll send you the booking calendar! 😉
- I optimized my offerings and made them less complicated in regards to the details and way easier to say YES to! $99 headshots anyone?
lol
- And then last but not least, I will stay on top of my health. No taking a vacation from doing the things I know I need to do to stay healthy. I hit my 4th year of being cancer free in 2024 and I want to keep that going for the future! I don't want it coming back in any way shape or form!
So there you have it! Again if you'd like to share any of your goals, or struggles from 2024... I would love to be a empathetic ear/shoulder for you! Thank you to each and everyone of you who have worked with me, collaborated with me, engaged on my social media, sent messages to check in and just been here with me! I appreciate each and every one of you! Now let's get into the
rest of this blast! 👇
Let's start off with some fun facts about this month! January is named after Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and transitions. Janus is often depicted with two faces, one looking forward and one looking
backward. Birthstone The birthstone for January is garnet, which is said to symbolize friendship, protection, love, commitment, and trust. The name garnet comes from the Latin word for
grain, as the rounded crystals of the stone resemble pomegranate seeds. Birth flowers The birth flowers for January are the carnation and the snowdrop. The snowdrop is one of the first
flowers to bloom in the spring, while carnations add a bright spot to the winter landscape. Holidays Some holidays celebrated in January include New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, National Science Fiction Day, World Braille Day, and
International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Happy New Year 2025! May this year bring success, growth, and opportunities to achieve all your goals!
