Let's start off with some fun facts about the month!
The month of August is named after Augustus Caesar, the first Roman emperor and Julius Caesar's grandnephew.The name "Augustus" means "respected" or "impressive".August is one of only two months named after a mortal, the other being July, which is named after Julius Caesar.
August has three birthstones: peridot, spinel, and sardonyx.Peridot is a vibrant green gemstone that can be
found in hardened lava and meteorites.It's said to have magical powers, healing properties, and can protect against nightmares.
Before being named August, the month was called Sextilis in the original Roman calendar because it was the sixth month.
August is the eighth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. Its length is 31 days. In the Southern Hemisphere, August is the seasonal equivalent of February in the Northern
Hemisphere. In the Northern Hemisphere, August falls in the season of summer.
